My Match of the Year on Center Court | YONEX GERMAN OPEN VLOG 2024
Wow, what a week in Mülheim and what a chance to get to play badminton on those courts! After my match with CK I also had the honour to be part of a challenge on finals day were I played rallies against spectators on center court before the first match. On my Instagram Channel I shared some impressions from those matches: reelC4D5a2BL-ik/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

Yes this is another video about the smash, but also so much more because in my eyes it covers one of the most useful tools for learning any motor skill and it changed my whole approach to coaching and teaching. All the cues I talk about can be transferred to all other shots, and if you understand the concept of external cues and the endposition of shots you will easily find examples and keypoin...
The Worst Advice for a Badminton Player!

Pretty sure most of you have heard the advice: "Always have your racket up!" or maybe you also told that to some of your players if you are a coach. Since I started playing with Yonex I went right away with the ArcSaber 11 as it just felt great in all areas of the game. I already thought, I would retire on this racket as I didn't find anything that came close for me personal, but last year Yonex came up with another modell, the ArcSaber 11 Pro and of course I have to try that one! Thanks. Have seen many videos on this topic. Although many people are liking I believe it could be better. First seems I didn't hear "Bevel grip" at all, which I think is very important. Also there is an important nuance about what distance to hold the racket from it lower end. The effect is better and more powerful when moving a few mm upwards towards the bending shaft, compared to the grip for a power shot.

    It would be better if the video was played first followed by your analysis. That way, the viewers will initially develop their opinions before merging them with yours. Therefore, people would be delighted to realize their shortcomings.

    Depends on level of play - recreational players do better keeping their racket up.

  • @Justlookingaround19

    At 2.56 the opponent played a back hand return that is way too quick this caused him to not have enough time to return and tobias could easily move him around. I feel that many singles player do not vary the speed of their shots. People always think that a slower return would put you in a disadvantage but this is untrue a well placed slower shot will put you in a good position to attack or defend.

    Funny thing. I tell this all people who ask: 1. Ignore all the coaches on youtube 2. now, go to youtube and watch slowmos of the top 3 real players in the world (you don't want to learn from some composer, if you can learn from Mozart himself) 3. watch them 50 times, pay attention to detail. Try to understand and recreate the dynamics and athleticism of the action in your living room. Role play the movements AS THE PLAYER in your head with closed eyes 50 times 4. go to your favourite parking lot and role play those movements without anything badminton related equipment. It is like a ballet choreography being done over and over again. Get the movements into your lizzard brain to become natural. 5. go on court with your racket and do it again without a partner and without a shuttle. 6. now do it with a shuttle and possibly a partner and focus on sound (it really works) 7. profit

    What if my defence is weak so

    • @Justlookingaround19
      @Justlookingaround19 11 днів тому

      If your defense is weak slow the game down so you have more time to react, the opponent in the video is returning every shot at full power that's very bad unless you are a very quick player. Do not rush as this is singles and not doubles.

    Hey Tobias, any updates on your racket End position rotation basis? As a beginner I found that it held me back by a significant margin due to me tensing myself too much, too long in order to replicate that rotation bounce-back that you do, or more accurately what the pro's do when they do a short-action swing that needs a quick recovery/follow-up to that shot they did instead of following through to build my swing to get a faster, more complete swing
